Twitter suspends some apps
Guess what? Twitter didn’t have to turn off the Twitter apps for millions of users by childishly pulling the plug on UberTwitter and Twidroyd.  But they did. Am I surprised? Not in the least. And then Twitter followed up by delaying for many hours the reactivation of those apps for users. The minor issues with the apps that caused Twitter to turn them off—throwing users into a panic—were fixed quickly, as this tweet points out. Yet Twitter did not restore them, still has not restored them.

Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga would love to see Marisa Tomei play her in a biopic because she has a lot of the same traits as the actress. The Poker Face hitmaker is convinced The Wrestler star would be the ideal person to portray her if her life was ever made into a movie, as both of the New York-natives have a fiery attitude. She tells Sirius XM radio station, "Oh, you know what, I would have Marisa Tomei play me. I am such a Marisa Tomei fan. All my friends call me Marisa when I get angry. Because my New York accent just flies out of my body and I start smacking my gum."

Daytona 500 lines up

by attu | 3:48 AM in , |

The 2011 Daytona 500 starting lineup is ready for the big race Sunday. There were changes to the 2011 Daytona 500 starting lineup though, especially after Dale Earnhardt Jr. wrecked during practice with teammate Jimmy Johnson earlier in the week. While on a practice lap, Earnhardt had to slam on the breaks to avoid Johnson, who was trying to get around cars that had slowed down in front of him. Earnhardt ended up getting hit from behind by another racer, sending him into the infield wall and ripping a chunk off of his car.
Up to that point Earnhardt had taken the pole position to the race, posting the best qualifying time of a deep field. Because he wrecked his primary car and has to go with a backup car, it meant that Earnhardt will have to start at the back of the back on Sunday. That was something that might seem unfair to fans of Earnhardt, but it's how the rules are written up for the complicated qualifying procedures at the Daytona 500.

Man had knife removed from head

An official at Yuxi City People's Hospital in Yunnan Province said Friday that Li Fuyan, a 30-year-old man, had been suffering severe headaches, bad breath and breathing difficulties but never knew the cause of his discomfort. The official says Li told doctors he had been stabbed in the lower right jaw by a robber four years ago and the blade broke off inside his head without him realizing it. Surgeons worked cautiously to remove the badly corroded blade without shattering it, said the official who would only give his surname. The hospital's website also reported the successful surgery.

Seeking to placate upset fans who are contemplating litigation against them due to the Super Bowl snafu involving temporary seating that wasn't up to code, the NFL has increased its offer to those displaced by the debacle.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told the Associated Press that the NFL has e-mailed the 400 fans affected by the situation to offer them $5,000 or reimbursement for documented expenses, and are willing to pay the higher of the two figures.
The league initially offered $2,400, three times the value of the ticket, as well as ticket to a future Super Bowl as well as flight and hotel expenses.

McCarthy indicated that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell wanted to increase the offer after talking to fans.
The e-mail to fans said: "As you may know, we have been reaching out directly to those fans who regrettably and inexcusably were unable to watch Super Bowl XLV from a seat in Cowboys Stadium. In listening to your feedback, we have decided to offer a third option."

The Cowboys, along with team owner Jerry Jones, the National Football League and corporate entities were named as defendants in the suit, along with corporate entities that manage Cowboys Stadium, where the Green Bay Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 Sunday.
