Celebrities and well-known others will slip on their dancing shoes today for the launch of "Dancing With the Stars." Let's hope they stay on their feet, given the number of people who have been injured while pursuing the dance challenge. Let's review the show's medical charts:

This season: Already two of this year's would-be waltzers have been hurt. Former House majority leader Tom DeLay has a problem but refuses to recuse himself. Model Kathy Ireland didn't hurt herself on the dance floor, but she still managed to end up with stitches.

Last season: Eight dancers faced challenges to their samba status. Before she hit the stage, singer Jewel fractured bones in both her legs. Watch her talk about the show. Nancy O'Dell, "Access Hollywood" co-host, might have gone at rehearsals a little too enthusiastically.

Poor Melissa Rycroft: First she gets the boot from "The Bachelor," then she steps in as a replacement, only to break a rib. Another replacement, a Playboy model turned "Girl Next Door," also hurt a rib.

As if that wasn't enough, this sexy actor also was hurt, but he stayed on his feet. But "Jackass" star Steve-O's move fell flat. Though this titan of the computer world fractured his foot and pulled a hamstring, the injuries didn't keep him off the floor. See for yourself. Even a rodeo king took a hit.

who this Julianne Hough woman is and why do I care that she’s ‘Got Milk’? Is she on one of those dancing shows? That explains why I don’t know her. Anyhow, she’s kinda hot and there’s a nice strategically placed hole in her dress that’s kind of got my attention. If you squint, you can almost see a hint of cleavage through that thing, it’s like looking through the eye of a needle.

all it a curse or strike of bad luck as "DWTS" contestants suffer injuries

The newest "American Idol" judges will join the show next season: Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler. The stars will join longtime host Randy Jackson, who recently secured his spot on the panel for another year. Host Ryan Seacrest's salary isn't too shabby either.
