Unrest in the Middle East  is hitting drivers in the pocketbook. Crude oil prices have risen to their highest level in years.  Oil resumed its march to $90 a barrel, promising to bring gasoline prices along for the ride.Benchmark crude rose 82 cents to settle at $88.61 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. At the pump, the US average price for a gallon of regular gas rose about half a cent to $2.98, almost three cents higher than a week ago and 37 cents above a year ago.West Coast drivers pay the most, an average of $3.23 a gallon. The average is just over $3 in New England, while regular goes for about $2.90 in the Southeast.

One of the Dallas Cowboys' major donors is a named plaintiff in a class action lawsuit, seeking more than $5 million, over unavailability of seats at Super Bowl XLV, according to documents filed Monday at a U.S. District Court in Texas. The Cowboys, along with team owner Jerry Jones, the National Football League and corporate entities were named as defendants in the suit, along with corporate entities that manage Cowboys Stadium, where the Green Bay Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 Sunday.

About 1,250 fans with tickets were affected in the seating fiasco, which came about because certain sections of Cowboys Stadium that were being added in an effort to boost attendance weren't ready by game time. About 850 of the fans were relocated to other seats, and some 400 weren't, the NFL said.

Schools just a short freeway trip apart and bitter rivals, one team has a better record in football while the other was a hoops powerhouse.

When these two teams play, someone is liable to get hurt. They played in the 1906 World Series, and one of the teams last won the series in 1908. The Cubs become lovable losers, cursed by a goat, finding new ways to maintain their streak of futility. The other team has a charismatic and controversial manager. The ballparks are just a short train ride apart.


The greatest rivalry in golf history, it was conducted by two friendly rivals and was likely a changing of the guard in pro golf. Their rivalry put golf on TV, and the sport has never been the same.


Another bitter baseball rivalry, another curse. The two most legendary baseball franchises hate each other. One calls the other "The Evil Empire." The other bought one of the best players in history from the other for a song. It's great baseball theater when these two rivals get on the field.

Every year the NFL  produces two sets of championships gear, for whichever team wins the big game.  The team that doesn't win the title, will have their 'winning-apparel' sent to a third world country.  The NFL and its partners annually produce two sets of championships gear for each eventuality in the Super Bowl.
